From the Northern Isles of Orkney and Shetland, across the Highlands and North East of Scotland to central Scotland and beyond, Northwards supports its customers in the transportation of goods by land and sea.
Northwards are a haulage and freight shipping company that is rooted in the islands, meaning they have local knowledge, experience and the best possible understanding of the challenges of delivering to and from remote rural areas. The company’s modern fleet and team of industry experts, consistently deliver the best transport service for their customers.
“Our people are part of the communities that we serve, so we understand the important role we play in maintaining the seamless transport links that are vital to the economic wellbeing of our rural areas.” Says Neil Leslie director of Northwards.
Shetland is where the company was first established, and it remains at the centre of its operation. Neil adds “We are proud to have our head office here, and continue to invest in the local community, retaining talent, skills, and local knowledge in the islands. Our team of 40 includes commercial management, accounts people, freight co-ordinators, drivers, and mechanics.”
The breadth of what they do means that they provide a range of career options. “The level of qualifications and skills required to work with us - and the job and training opportunities available are wide-ranging. We have openings for van drivers progressing to professional truck drivers, forklift drivers and store people, freight co-ordinators and customer service advisors. Our commercial vehicle workshop employs apprentices and mechanics. While, behind the scenes, the business support team includes HSEQ, HR, IT, procurement, marketing and accounts people.”
The Northwards team are looking forward to The Tall Ships Races arriving in Lerwick. It promises to be a great event – and one which we are delighted Northwards are supporting.
