Capitan Miranda is a Class A sail training ship operated by the Uruguayan Navy.
Built in Spain in 1930, this Schooner 3 has a home port in Montevideo, Uruguay. The ship was named after Captain Francisco Miranda, a Uruguayan hydrographer, and was used as a survey ship until 1978 when the vessel had a major refit and was then dedicated to sail training.
The black, steel hull measures 50 metres from the total length of 60 metres including the bowsprit; the weight of the vessel is 839 tonnes.
Capitan Miranda is a 3 masted ship which can accommodate 24 trainees and 53 permanent crew.
