While the Tall Ships fleet was berthed in Lerwick, there were a number of changes to access arrangements to the town centre area to ensure the safety of all visitors, and the security of the event sites. Road closures were implemented along Commercial Street and the Esplanade, with restricted access extending to the Stewart Building, Church Road, and Commercial Road below Fort Charlotte. Event organisers had made arrangements for extensive public transport services to facilitate easy access to event sites. In addition to free park-and-ride and Shuttle Buses, there were late-night service buses and ferries planned. See pages within this section for full details.
Taxi Rank
A taxi rank was in place in front of Alexandra Building in the town centre.
Disabled Parking
Traffic restrictions were in place, provision had been made for additional disabled parking areas in Lerwick town centre. The area under Fort Charlotte and the parking on the south side of Church Road was exclusively for Blue Badge holders only. At Holmsgarth, the back car park of the Co-op Supermarket was reserved for Blue Badge holders.
