We are delighted that Peterson Energy Logistics, a Shetland-based company, is sponsoring The Tall Ships Races Visit to Lerwick this July. With a strong presence on the island, Peterson Energy Logistics has been operating in Shetland for more than 20 years and is a major employer with a workforce of around 60 people. The international energy logistics organisation has been working with other local companies to position Shetland as an energy island, tapping into the region's abundant natural resources and expertise in the energy sector. Whether that be renewables or oil and gas.
The company operates in a wide range of industries, including oil and gas, renewables, decommissioning, quayside operations, warehousing, and complex lifting services. They have been involved with the decommissioning projects at Dales Voe, one of the largest decommissioning facilities in Europe. Additionally, in the renewables sector, the company has been involved in the construction of operations for the Viking Energy Wind Farm project. Including the transportation of more than 1,000 turbine components and the supply of marine gas oil for the ships involved in the project. All to help harness the island’s abundant wind resources and contribute to the transition to a low-carbon economy.
As Shetland transitions from an economy based on oil and gas to one focused on renewables and low-carbon energy, Peterson Energy Logistics has been working to support this shift. They recognize that it's not just about wind turbines but a range of sustainable energy sources. As the region moves towards a sustainable future, Peterson Energy Logistics is committed to using highly skilled people from the oil and gas industry to deliver a new era of sustainable energy in Shetland.
Peterson Energy Logistics’ commitment to collaboration is a key part of their approach. They recognise that they cannot do everything alone and working together with other businesses is essential. One example of this collaboration is their partnership with Shetland-based engineering firm Ocean Kinetics. Together, the two companies have developed a decommissioning system that is more efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly than traditional methods.
Peterson Energy Logistics’ collaboration with local companies, their track record of success and commitment to innovation, focus on sustainability and working with the local community make them well-positioned to play a key role in Shetland's transition to a low-carbon economy.
