Scores of young people from Shetland and Scotland will come together as part of their preparations for participating in this summer’s Tall Ships races. In total 100 trainees will be involved in the international event, which stops off in Lerwick for four days at the end of July.

SHETLAND Tall Ships Ltd has appointed Grampian Training Services to provide first aid cover at this summer’s four-day event in Lerwick. There are currently no commercial first aid services available in the islands following a decision by the Red Cross to discontinue its provision a few years ago.
Aberdeen-based company Granite Elite, which was founded in 2019, has provided security at events including the Scottish Traditional Boat Show in Portsoy, the Royal Deeside Motor Show, the Highland Games, various Pride events in the north east of Scotland and local music festivals.
